Student Entry Requirements

There are no Training Package requirements to enter these courses however the Academy has certain requirements

  • Minimum age of 16;
  • High standard of grooming
  • Possess a strong desire to enter this industry;
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to course;
  • All prospective students have a one on one interview with CEO or senior management. This is to ensure prospective students display a strong desire to enter this industry, understand the course commitments and can handle Diploma level study.
  • Have a USI number.

Language Literacy and Numeracy requirements for VSL students

Students wishing to access VET students Loans must satisfy Language Literacy requirements as detailed in the document on this website Admission Procedures for Approved courses.

  • Applicants applying for VSL are required to display competence at or above exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy; or Provide a copy of their Senior Secondary Certificate or higher. Please refer to Document Admission procedures for approved courses, or Student Handbook or Prospectus for full information
  • Those requiring LLN testing must attend the Academy on a set day of the week and undertake the testing under the supervision of one of our Trainers and Assessors.
  • The days will be advised to you at information sessions and may vary between locations

Language Literacy and Numeracy requirements for Non VSL students.

  • All non-VET Fee Help students including those studying through an apprenticeship pathway will be required to complete the Australian Core Skills framework LLN testing to ensure they are academically suitable for the relevant course prior to completing enrolment.
  • We currently use Learning Resources Group LLN Robot and a level 3 pass rate or higher is required.
  • This will not be required if a prospective student has the HSC, a AQTF Certificate IV or higher qualification.

Digital Literacy Testing

All learners are assessed prior to course commencement on their digital skills which are aligned to the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)

We use Learning Resources Group Digital Robot to assess digital literacy.

Based on the results of the testing  support including external support services  will be provided to the student to be able to complete the course successfully.

Students to supply

  • Notebook, stationery for class
  • Laptop, or ipad recommended for class but not essential
  • Computer and internet required at home for research and theory assessments
  • Sound computer skills
  • Unique email address
  • Uniform (cost $165)
  • Closed in flat rubber soled shoes

If you wish to access Vet Student Loans there is additional criteria including:

  • Proof of Australian Citizenship
  • Academic suitability requirements
  • Parental permission if under 18years of age
  • Providing a tax file number
